7 Color Custom Paint Job

When it comes to painting, there are alot of options out there, and can be confusing to swim through. These basic principles may help you-

Bottom line- Good preparation is the key to an excellent finished product. This is the step that so many people miss, and is the hardest step in the painting process. But I have found, that the more time you spend on good preparation, the better the painted finish will look and last over time. Sanding properly, removing flaked or blistered paint, and applying a good primer coat, are essential to producing a good finish.

Equipment- Using good quality brushes, rollers, etc. will lay the color on, helping to eliminate brush marks and roller lines. Invest in good equipment, and with proper washing, should last you a long time.

Paint- There is a reason that the cost of paint fluxuates from place to place. Paying for a higher grade paint may cost you more money up front, but may give you a true 1 coat coverage. Many time the less expensive paints will require 2 to 3 coats, which will cost you more time to apply.  Also, by using a higher quality paint, the finish will last alot longer, keeping its luster longer, and saving you money down the road. Ask you painter to pencil out the difference, and many times, you will win with the best paint you can buy.
